A New Year Brings New Challenges

Share/Save/Bookmark

I can finally close the book on this school year. It’s been a long year, and there have been ups and downs, smiles and tears, snow storms and tornado warnings. Reflecting is a huge part of teaching for both students and teachers. As we look forward to our summer vacation, it’s hard to want to reflect about the past nine months…all we see are the 2½ months of summer ahead of us; vacations, spending time with kids (our own), friends, barbecues, weekend getaways… In May, the possibilities seem endless. That’s where I’m at now, with all the possibilities for a beautiful summer ahead of me.

I’m not sure what challenges lie ahead for me next school year; I don’t doubt that there will be some along the way. With those challenges comes a great opportunity for professional growth, and teachers constantly have to work to learn and be better. Our students deserve our best everyday.

I can say that life in my household will be presented with some new excitement and challenges. Our little family of 3 will be +1 more in October. We will be welcoming a baby girl. Can I say how utterly thrilled that my little boy will be a big brother to a little sister?

I’m looking forward to what this new little one will bring to our lives. I can’t wait to see how my husband falls in love with his little girl, and I'm really looking forward to Wesley being a great big brother. And of course I can’t wait to hold and snuggle her in my arms.

Being a mom is one of the greatest blessings in my life. I think I’ve almost figured out balancing my career and my home life, so stay tuned as I find out what life with two kids and two jobs is like.

I hope as everyone kicks off the official start to summer, that you have a safe, happy, relaxing, and rewarding time with your family and friends!
