Thrush is a yeast infection in the mouth. All babies are at risk for it, because they either drink breast milk or the formula and do not brush their teeth. The sugary residue from the milk/formula sitting in the dark, warm, and moist mouth creates a favorable environment for yeast proliferation.

To prevent thrush from happening, get into a habit of wiping your infant's mouth with a wet washcloth after each feeding. If your baby already has thrush, his or her regular health care provider can prescribe a medication that should clear it up within a few days.
