Well, it’s happened. My oldest is now in half-day kindergarten.
I remember back six years ago when this tiny 6 pound 13 ounces baby boy was born, and I fell in love with him instantly. I never wanted to leave him and wanted to hold him close to me always. Being a stay at home mom has afforded me that luxury. I have basically been with him everyday, every hour for his whole life. That is, up until a few weeks ago.
Lately I have been feeling like I am at a crossroads in my life. For six years I have been a stay-at-home mom. This Fall, however, my oldest will be starting kindergarten and my youngest will be starting preschool. My oldest is going to half-day kindergarten (which I am a total advocate for!) and my youngest will have preschool two mornings a week.
A few months ago I noticed a scary trend happening in my household. Everyone in my family was craving unhealthy foods. Forget the fruit and vegetables. We all wanted fries, burgers, cookies, candy, etc. I wanted to put a stop to this.
Today I thought I'd tell you about what I do with my boys during our home preschool sessions. It's just preschool, so I try not to put too much pressure on myself or the boys, but I try my best to make it as fun as possible. First of all, I set aside at least 2 days during the week to have preschool.
