bartellbookMany parents want their families to step on the road to better health because they either noticed their children started to look chubby, perhaps the child’s doctor mentioned something about his or her body mass index being elevated, or simply because a healthy lifestyle prevents disease and improves wellbeing.

If you are one of those parents, Dr. Susan Bartell’s book, Dr. Susan’s Fit & Fun Family Action Plan, will empower you by giving you practical information enabling you to take charge and make effective changes in your family lifestyle in your quest for health.

In her book, Dr. Susan dispels several myths related to children’s weight. For example, she reminds everybody that although children need a plentiful supply of nutrients for healthy growth, they still need to watch what they eat (that is accomplished thorough parental control and modeling), and “baby fat” present beyond babyhood is not healthy.

Dr. Susan reminds parents that they need to teach their kids to make healthy choices from the start, because as they get older they are exposed to many outside pressures that might provide negative influence. Some of these negative influences are television, advertisements, magazines, Internet, and peers. In her book, Dr. Susan offers parents several helpful tips on how to “launch their attack” on those negative forces and help their children build high self-esteem and self-control while teaching them a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Susan shares “301 things you can do today” to improve your family’s health. Grab her book this summer and let her help you understand your family’s eating patterns. They might be a few generations old and, if not interrupted, might interfere with your family’s progress to better health.
